Astrid Mæland is a dance artist who works as a performing dancer, choreographer and dance teacher. She is the choreographer and performing dancer in her own solo project called WORKSPACE, which premiered in 2022. She is part of the artistic trio VÅKEN. She has been a performing dancer in the piece In Medias Res, choreographed by Helene Düring Kjær. She completed her bachelor's degree at the Faculty of Performing Arts, University of Stavanger, with a semester at the Conservatori Superior de Dansa, Institut Del Teatre in Spain. She has lived in Berlin and Barcelona, and participated in several workshops abroad at Impulstanz and Deltebre Dansa. 

Contact improvisation, theatre, acting, text and use of voice are strengths and inspirations in her artistry. Her dance practice bear the imprint of her education in contemporary dance, mixed with her experience with jazz dance, classical ballet and theatre. Improvisation is the main tool when she works choreographically. She has worked across art forms and performed on different types of stages, from art galleries to bars.
